What could be better than a quilt shop that sells both fabric and fudge! Well, in Long Beach, Washington there is such a shop, Anna Lena's Quilt and Fudge shop. Karen Snyder is the shop owner and head fudge maker. And when her husband is not working as the shop’s “quilt hanger” and handyman, he is tending (wading hip high in a cranberry bog) the cranberry fields. And many of those harvested cranberries end up in the fudge sold at the shop…Yup, the store is famous for its “cranberry fudge”! Imagine that!
Anna Lena's is located in the heart of downtown Long Beach, Washington. Inside, you will find everything for your quilting needs--over 2500 bolts of fine quilting fabrics, hundreds of books and patterns and some items that might surprise you. In fact, they usually have 20 to 30 varieties of fudge available for sale--and sampling--at all times. Fudge flavors include: four kinds of cranberry, Chocolate Explosion, Chocolate Walnut, Chewy Praline, After Dinner Mint and Butterfinger. We rotate other flavors, like Lemon Meringue Pie, Pumpkin, Baby Ruth, Heath English Toffee, Espresso, Creamcicle and more.
Shop owner, Karen, is “full of it”—fudge and fun that is. I have “hung out”, “karaoked” and “disco danced” with her when we linked up at the International Quilt Market. Like her, her shop is “high-energy” and is located in a “touristy” part of the Long Beach Peninsula in Southwest Washington. She offers fun retreats, crazy events and wonderful classes in quilt making. Karen will teach you how to make a quilt and how to enjoy gourmet fudge. Check out her website where you can order up some fabric and fudge to be delivered to your home or to the home of your favorite quilter for the holidays!
