I am sad to say goodbye to crafty girl, Susan C. Druding, who has been the Quilting At About.com guru for the last 9 years. She is moving on and leaving the “Quilting Guide” position.
“Thank you for all the support and friendship. I’ve learned so much about quilting from my readers and visitors,” she said in her farewell post.
I have been a regular reader and over the years, we have seen Susan address such topics as patchwork quilting, quilt patterns, hand quilting, quilting books, quilting kits and more. Discussions have been made about fabrics and materials, appliqué, projects for beginner quilters and computer software and the list seems almost endless. You can check out galleries of quilts, projects and patterns. The good thing you can look all this information up in the archives on Quilting at About.com.
Good Luck, Susan in your other adventures. Susan is quite an amazing and talented person…Her quilts are award winning …see “Silk Lattice III” (in photo at right). This 100% silk quilts uses about 35 different colors of silk and is quite
stunning and was awarded a Judge Choice award and an Honorable Mention in Houston in 2000. Her “Berkeley in the Sixties” quilt was done in a very folk art style depicting the “picket signs” she remembers from being in Berkeley, CA in the 1960’s. Check out Susan’s diverse bio on Patchwork Planet. She will be missed.
I will be looking forward to seeing who takes her place…and who will be our next “Quilting Guide” to show us how to make a perfect ¼” seam or make a quilt from only fat quarters.
