Yesterday, we signed a lease and received the keys to a studio, which will become the home of the “Threaded Pear Studio”. For my business partner and me it has been an exciting couple of days! Stephanie Goudzwaard and I bought a long-arm quilting machine and it gets delivered and set up on Feb. 16!
We are going be piecing, quilting for others, and making “quilted comforts” to sell. We are also designing quilting patterns which we hope to sell to quilt shops nationally and on our website (which is under construction at this moment).
Our humble little space (think “ big garage”) is located in a “light industrial” area of town, and will become our “home away from home”. We decided not to work out of our own homes-- mostly because we have 6 kids between us and way too much laundry. We knew we needed to “escape” and actually go somewhere to work everyday. So, we took the plunge and rented a studio space.

We are excited to unpack, get organized and start quilting.
However, if you want to see a real big-time artist’s studio in full operation, check out Lisa Call’s studio. She is a contemporary quilter and has it going on. Her studio is amazing. Her work is amazing. She has a design wall that is over 48 feet long. And she is seriously organized.
“I design and create vivid geometric abstract contemporary quilts,” says Lisa. And she does it in a really cool studio. Keep up the good work Lisa! Here is a photo of one of her quilts called "Structures #46", which I think is wonderful. (Photos courtersy of Lisa Call)
We can only wish that someday our studio could be so wonderful!
Today, at the “Threaded Pear Studio”, we made curtains, bought a plant, and got an American Express business card in the mail. It is all good.

Thanks for all the support! In the studio today...We painted some walls red. Built IKEA shelves and sewed all-day. That is a fun day!
