Quilting Inspiration Comes From Australia's "Material Obsession"
There are some girls from  “Down Under” who have inspired me. These girls, Sarahmaterial obsession girls.gif Fielke and Kathy Doughty, wanted to bring the art form of quilting into the 21st century…and their contemporary quilts and patterns do that!

Their company, “Material Obsession” (which opened in March 2004). is a place where “new ideas are born, new skills learnt and fresh unique fabrics are available!” And in case you do not live in Australia it might a bit of a hike to go to their shop, but…do not worry…they also have a beautiful website selling patterns, fabric, quilt kits and more.  Their designs appeal to the "modern" quilter,  but I think  "traditional" quilters would love them too.

Their inspiration comes from the likes of Kaffe Fassett, Amy Butler, Jane Sassaman, Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr. These modern quilter girls hope to break down the barriers for new quilters and hope to make their experience easy, stimulating, yet simple and effective. Material Obsession’s original designs arecharmstar.jpg fresh, fun and fantastic. The slogan for the campany is "Be Inspired". And I am, I think you will be too.  Take a look at some of my favorite quilts which include: "Geomaze" “Charmstar”, and  “Avalon”. geomaze.jpgavalon.jpg

Material Obsession has been featured in several quilting publications including, Australian Country Threads, Down Under Quilts, Better Homes and Gardens and now Quilter’s Buzz.

I will be stopping by “Material Obsession” regularly –(the website, I mean)…but maybe one day I will stop by their shop in person!
