Shop owners all over this country and internationally  are getting ready for Quilt Market to be held next week. And that includes internet quilt shop owners Kimberly and Kevin Jolly. The Jolly’s own and operate FatQuarterShop.com.

 And Kimberly has graciously agreed to be a guest writer today on QuiltersBuzz.

















Do you love quilting but own a few too many quilts? Well, that small problem, of owning too many quilts, is the reason the FatQuarterShop.com is in business today!

Today, Kimberly tells us how the shop got started and about some of the unique items her shop offers. Tomorrow, we will read about some insights into owning an internet quilt shop and what she looks for when attending Quilt Market and shopping with her fabric representatives.

Here's Kimberly:

Hello! My name is Kimberly Jolly and I own the Fat Quarter Shop, along with my husband Kevin.

We have an online shop called The Fat Quarter Shop and it  was started as the result of a fluke incident!

I have been an avid quilter for many years. When I got married I had so many quilts they were everywhere and out of frustration Kevin said we should sell some of them. There was no way I could do that, so he came up with the idea to sell fabric, and that is how our company was formed.

We have been in business for 3 years and I love it!

Kevin does the graphic designing for our website, so we have a very comfortable arrangement. Our shop has grown to the point over the past three years that my part time hobby has taken over both of our lives! It has been a lot of work but also a very rewarding experience.

I started out just focusing on fat quarters and fat quarter patterns! We then began carrying yardage in most fabric lines so customers can get coordinating fabrics for borders, binding and backing as well. That led to carrying a large assortment of kits that we try to keep fresh, original and unique.

Charm packs have been a great addition to our site and we’ve just introduced our exclusive Jolly Packs that can be found only at the Fat Quarter Shop! Jolly Packs are pre-cut 5" squares of popular entire collections that you can’t get anywhere else.

 We also have exclusive Moda bags that you can store your fat quarters and charm packs in and they are great for gift giving charm packs and fat quarter bundles!

We try to add new items to our site every day so besides keeping us up all night, it provides our customers with new and exciting things to look at every time they visit us.
