We are fortunate to have more inspirational Denyse Schmidt products coming our way ....and even the inspirational Denyse Schmidt herself in person... Denyse is the guest writer today.

This girl keeps busy! She is currently exhibiting at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair trade show. She has a second book out and more designs in her stationery line. She will be featured in an upcoming quilt magazine and is a contributing writer an upcoming issue of Dwell Magazine.  (Plus, in case you did not know... she is the guest writer here on the QuiltersBuzz-I just had to mention that-again!)

 We can look forward to additional colorways for “Flea Market Fancy” and another fabric collection coming soon. Whew! .

But let me “give her the floor” and tell you about her projects in the works herself!

Here's Denyse:

“My quilting kit from Chronicle Books is out, and it's adorable. There is some project overlap with my book, but the format is different, and there are 4 projects in the kit that are not in the book. The kit comes with fabric for one project and needle and thread. One of my favorite projects is the All the Trimmings Scrap Balls (See scraps balls here at left).

 I never seem to be able throw anything out, even the selvage edges we cut off the fabric, so we have this barrel full of skinny scraps. We used to make the balls to sell ourselves, but they weren't exactly profitable. Perhaps we should sell little bags of the scraps we have?

There are two new items in my Dots & Jots line. Dots & Jots reproduces some of my vintage fabrics on paper, so these are great for all you fabric lovers. (Mini journal shown in photo)  I love the Mini Journal set. Chronicle Books is running a special "Denyse Schmidt" sale, 25% off all my product until July 31! We're getting ready for the International Contemporary Furniture Fair  in NYC which starts next weekend. It's a big design trade show, and I've been exhibiting there since I started the business 10 years ago. We are showing our Works and Couture collections, including a Drunk Love in a Log Cabin, (see photo below of  Drunk Love in a Log Cabin quilt) one of the first quilt designs I made.

It was great to make this version with some of my Flea Market Fancy fabrics. Here are our press kit bags, which we make out of tarp material – this bag was the genesis for the Zig Zag Bag (shown here) project in the book.

Check out my contribution to Dwell Magazine's Color Theory 101 story in their July issue. American Patchwork & Quilting is doing a lovely story on me and the studio in their July issue – plus they are running the Scrap Ball project with the story!”
