Wool it seems was the "name of the game" at Quilt Market...and there was a lot of it... wool embellishing, wool samplers, wool home décor items, wool thread, wool needle punch, wool yarn, wool rug hooking, wool roving and hand-dyed over-dyed wool and even more wool.
And I loved it all!
I even bought two sample rings of every color and type of wool that Weeks Dye Works hand over-dyes and sells. I enjoy just looking and touching my wool eye candy! I love to imagine the possibilities!
And it is just not me, who has a love of the wooly stuff...Weeks Dye Works has over 125 designers listed on their website who are using their hand over-dyes in their creations. And no one is counting the wooly customers...who are buying the designers patterns...Anyway its a wooly world out there.
"Freshly Cut Primitive" at Buttermilk Basin
But I was really impressed with a company, new to quilt market this year, called “Buttermilk Basin”. A young enthusiastic designer named Stacy West runs this Mounds View, Minnesota company. Her designs were clean and crisp--I am calling it “freshly cut primitive”.
She was showing wool samplers and wall hangings as well as quilts embellished with wool appliqué. Her creations were wonderfully designed, constructed and displayed.
I loved her four seasons over-the-door wall hangings. (As shown in photo with Stacy.)
Stacy was a “spark” at the show; her booth was exciting, inviting and refreshingly wooly. Keep up the good work…this will not be the last we hear from this “freshly cut primitive” girl.

Hello, I'm from Kansas and I bought a Wool quilt at a sale. It is made of men's suits, with a heavy cotton material on the back. Can anyone give me an idea of it's age and the lower level of price?? I paid no more than 10.00 Thanks, sherylNkansas
