This magazine is trying to “break the mold” with a new take on quilting. It is geared for the “new generation of quilters”.
Instead of featuring just quilts, patterns and quilt makers--Quilter's Home features articles on everything quilters love––gardening, cooking, decorating and more! The premier issue includes:
- Quilts inspired by Vera Wang-Three summer beauties and how to make them
- New fabric collections-Don't just buy fabrics; use them in your home!
-111 Ways to jump start your creativity-Helpful hints for mustering inspiration
-And a whole lot more.
”I think it's about time we quilters start being treated like the creative, interesting and fun-loving people we are. We love to quilt. We also love to garden, cook, do some
Quilter's Buzz to be featured in Quilter's Home
The magazine comes out every two months…(is that bi-monthly? I can never remember.)
The Quilter’s Buzz will be featured in a section on quilting blogs in the next issue coming out in August.
Quilter’s Home (published by Primedia/McCalls) is not available by subscription, but you can buy it at bookstores, fabric/craft stores and newsstands. I got mine at my local grocery store.
There is even a free pattern to download of a "Mark Lipinski" quilt, called "Royal Romance".
What do you think about the new magazine?

I love Mr. Lipinski's Royal Romance but I can't seem to print out the templates. Page 5 just prints out the words but no templates.
Can someone help me with this?
Thanks,
Malaine

The Premier Issue of Quilter's Home is out now and on shelves at stores. Quilter's Buzz will be featured in the August issue coming out next month.

I liked the Royal Romance quilt and the Wedding quilt inspired by Vera Wang. The rotary cutter comparison was informative, even if my favorite cutter came in dead last. Some of the short articles were hard to find as unless you were reading every page for content it was easy to miss, thinking they were advertisements.
To me, this first issue of Quilter's Home came across as a Woman's Day with an emphasis in Quilting. Since I don't buy that magazine, or similar ones for $2 or $3, I sure don't want to spend $6 for it.
When the new quilt magazines come out, I flip through them all at the newstand. If there aren't 2 or 3 things which catch my eye, it's not likely that I'll buy the magazine.
Since this is a new magazine, I'll look for the August issue, but my guess is I'm not the demographic this magazine is targeting.
I'm married, 43, no children, quilt daily, work a full time job, generally buy my fabrics from my LQS and have completed 6 quilts since the first of the year. I do my own quilting on my domestic sewing machine and give most of them as gifts. I've been quilting seriously for the last 3 years.

will the second issue come out in August? What types of stores carry it (e.g. barnes & noble, walmart?) I heard you were going to feature ideas for using buttons in quilts and home decorating in the August issue. True?

I live in a very small town and the two places that carry mag's don't have this one. How do I get hold of it? I especially want the October one as I was notified that there was a pattern in this mag that I had been asking about when we were in Paducah. Help Help

I picked up a copy while on travel and LOVE it. However, I have been everywhere trying to buy current issues. I live in Northern Virginia. Any idea of what stores carry it? where to buy? when/if subscriptions available?
