Material Obession's, Sarah and Kathy, Guest Report on the Sydney Craft and Quilt Show--The Biggest Quilt Show in the Southern Hemisphere!

Well, here they are...Sarah and Kathy, all the way from Material Obession in
Australia guest reporting on the recently held Sydney Quilt and Craft Show.
"Hello all you American quilters out there, Sarah and Kathy here from Material Obsession. Well. We finally made it through the Sydney Quilt and Craft Show 2006, the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. It was very a long 5 days, but well worth the effort.
The event was held in the Sydney Convention Centre in Darling Harbour, right on Sydney Harbour and a lovely walk from the city centre. This year there were over 250 craft stalls, a display of over 300 quilts from the New South Wales Quilters Guild, an exhibition of magnificent Japanese quilts and for the first time a beading section which was a lovely and well attended addition to the show.
So what were the highlights for Material Obsession at the show? With so many things to do and see and a large array of products on display, we could blog on for many pages but here are a few of the standouts.
First and foremost, the quilt display. As with every year the quilts on display were fabulous – huge variety of colourful, unique and challenging designs. Some of the quilters here also display in the Houston show so you may be familiar with some of the work. The NSW Guild show is widely accepted as the most prestigious show in Australia, and the quality and workmanship is first class. You can view all the winning quilts at the guilds website.
Quilt walk completed and out with the credit cards - the craft stalls. As always there were some great products on display and for sale. All the major quilt shops and suppliers have stalls so it’s hard to know where to start. Although the array isn’t anything like Houston, we think Sydney puts on a pretty impressive show and an amazing variety in choice of product."
(Shown below and above is the booth put together for the show by Sarah and Kathy for their shop Material Obession.)

We also picked out some other quilts we loved for you to see....Stay tuned tomorrow for three interesting finds from the show...
Thanks for the report girls! Look for more to come!
