I have used a version of this item it at Kinko’s and other copy stores (mostly, when I was making felt sports banners and high school campaign posters) and I always thought it was a great gadget to have…it is a Proportional Scale. And Golden
Threads has made one especially for quilters, called the Quilter’s Assistant Proportional Scale.
Often times, I have wanted to make a copy of a design or graphic bigger or smaller or a specific size…and the proportional scales takes the guess work out of deciding how much to shrink or enlarge your design.
Want to make that 3” x 3” Redwork design fit your 5 1/2” x 5 1/2” quilt block exactly…use the scale to decide the perfect percentage to enlarge that design to fit.
I first saw this item on Erica’s Tools website. According to the site it is so easy to use, just...
"Line up measurement of the current design size on inner ring with the new size measurement on the outside ring. Percentage of increase or reduction will appear in the window opening. Resize on copy machine or scanner. Measurement in inches and percents."
The scale sells for about $6.
I Love it.
