Seat Belt Bags---Hip, Cool and Extremely "Safe"and Durable ...Check Out the Handbags Made From 100% Seatbelts

It was so cool and I am guessing it is probably extremely durable and probably super “safe” as well!
Just had to pass on a couple of photos and a shopping resource or two to my quilting buddies.
The bags are made out of 100% seatbelts. Guaranteed to hold up to 5,000 pounds of necessities…I am thinking that 5,000 pounds is about how much most quilters lug around in their purse on any given day!
The bags are lined with genuine flight satin--the same stuff NASA and the U.S. Airforce uses--and come in lots ‘o styles and colors.
I found these photos on Material Girl Inc. website. The bags are called “Harvey’s Original Seatbelt Bag” and the Material Girl site promises the lowest prices on the bags and free shipping.
There is also quite an assortment of the Harvey's bags on HipUndies.com (And quite the assortment of undies, I have to say!)
According to themaker's website, here is how the Harvey's got started making the seat belt bags:
"Hello, we're the HARVEYS, husband and wife Dana and Melanie Harvey. In March 1997, while installing seatbelts into our 1950 Buick, we had the idea of making Melanie a matching handbag. Everyone loved hers so much that we decided to make more.
We started making them in our one car garage in California but quickly outgrew it. We've since expanded to a 12,000 ft2 design studio in Santa Ana, California where every SEATBELTBAG is lovingly Built in the USA to exact specifications."
I am putting one on my Christmas List…I hope my mom is reading my Blog!
Thanks friend, Fara, for the “show and tell” of your hip seatbelt bag!
