For a good time, a chance to meet some other quilters in your town or surrounding area and to be exposed to new quilting ideas, techniques and good deals…join your local quilt guild!
Usually, most quilt guilds will meet once a month, have a special speaker or quilt display and have all sorts of quilt block exchanges, fabric sales, show-n-tell and more! And the yearly dues are cheap! Normally, about $20 to 30 per year. (Mostly, used to cover photocopying and stamps for the guild newsletter.)
Often times a guild will also host a “quilt show” which will showcase guild member's finished quilting projects and local quilt vendors.
There are many websites to help you in finding a quilt guild near your home. Two great places I found online are: QuiltsGuilds.com, which lists a ton of guilds in the U.S. or see more at QuiltIndex.com.
Better yet, ask at your quilt shop, they usually have a list going of the local guilds and when and where they meet.
Texas quilter, Kim at Dioramarama, “scored big”
when she went to her quilt guild in Austin this week where they were hosting a “second chance boutique”…she bought piles of vintage fabrics for $1/ yard. Check out her finds on her site! Good shopping Kim!

Yeah Gina, you might have found me a quilting friend! Now, if I could only meet her! Hi Kim (at Dioramarama), I am Ginas friend Kristy. My family and I very recently moved to Austin. I am also a fairly new quilter. I would love to play sometime!
