My daughter, Macy, a college student and aspiring artist, creates amazing abstract paintings that I would like to incorporate into some quilt designs. I have been searching and researching contemporary quilters for inspiration and direction.
I love the works of Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr at Funquilts studio, and their books "The Modern Quilt workshop” and “Color Harmony for Quilts”. And, of course, anything that Denyse Schmidt does. The fabrics of Kaffe Fassett speak me.
Recently, I discovered the contemporary art quilt blog of Patricia Bravo at Art Gallery Quilts to be inspiring.

Just thought I would share a few of her insights and designs:
“Welcome to my studio!
Since I started quilting, I always tried to be innovative, different, and to
the last point, myself.
My career as a quilter made a definitive turning point when I started
exploring Contemporary Art Quilts.
After ten years of studying and selling them, as well as working on new
quilting techniques, I began designing a complete line of Artistic Quilt
Patterns and Hand Painted Fabrics.
And so this is how Art Gallery Quilts was born.
Check out her site.
Send me any ideas and sites that inspire you and your contemporary side of quilting.
(Quilts show are "Argyle" from Funquilts studio and "Color Harmony" and "in Circles" from Art Gallery Quilts.)
