
Stop by your local shop and make a block. Your block will go to help make a quilt. The quilt will be auction this Spring and proceeds benefit the research for breast cancer.
I have written about it before...but it is worth a quick repeat!
And if you have been quilt fabric shopping(online or in person) in the past few months, you have probably seen a ton of fun pink fabric on the shelves. This is a national quilting event sponsored by Better Homes - American Patchwork & Quilting, Moda Fabrics, Husqvarna, C&T Publishing, Viking, Ott-Lite, Fiskars, The Fabric Shop Network, Horn of America and Robinson-Anton.
These sponsors ask for you of join in their cause to fight against breast cancer and they are calling on quilters of all skill levels to:
1. Find a local participating quilt shop (Check out the website www.QuiltPink.com to see all of the participants listed.)
2. Plan to visit a participating quilt shop on Quilt Pink Day, September 30, 2006
3.Bring a friend and make a pink-and-white quilt block at a participating quilt shop
Your block will be stitched to those created by other quilters and sent as a finished quilt to American Patchwork & Quilting® magazine for an online auction in Spring 2007. Net proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Many online quilt shops are also hosting their own “Quilt Pink” challenge and are making donations to the charity.
You are going to be seeing lots and lots of pink fabrics out there is the next few months to support this event.
Moda, for example, asked many of its designers to create "pink" themed pieces and they put out a "Quilt Pink" line that includes over 30 different pink pieces. Charm squares, Fat quarter packs and yardage is now available for purchase.
