Bill Kerr and Weeks Ringle, the quilting duo at FunQuilts have a nice tutorial posted on their site that describes the steps they go through in the process of making a quilt…
I thought you may be interested. Check out the “Process” on their site…But here it is in a nutshell what is covered—and some of their photos as well.
1. Selecting the Fabric
2. Cutting the Fabric
3. Piecing the Project
4. Ironing
5. Quilting
6. Washing and Drying
And finally...
7. "Admire" and "Feel" and "Lay On" and "Show Off" and "Be Proud Of" ...Your Creative Works
(I threw number 7 in...sorry FunQuilts team.)

I'm glad to see that they include washing in the process. I like to gently wash my quilts immediately after they are done. They look and feel so much better!
