Denyse Schmidt Shines At Market and In A Presentation...She Has A New Fabric Collection In The Works And QuiltersBuzz Hits 200!

QuiltersBuzz hits a milestone!

This is post number 200 for the QuiltersBuzz! And has nearly 200,000 pages views recorded.200.jpeg

When I started writing, I worried about having enough to write about…boy, was I wrong. I have thousands of things to write about…so I try to narrow it down, a bit, and write about the people, products and projects that I love in the quilting industry.

I hope to expose you to new ideas and designers and to inspire you to fulfill your need to create. And if I have could have one or two of you volunteer to do my laundry, I could write even more! Any takers….Denyse Schmidt schoolhouse houston 2006.JPG

I have been truly inspired by what many of you do because you are willing to share your creations, thoughts and even step-by-step directions.

Thank you for your comments and encouragement and dedicated reading! Denyse Schmidt jumprope small.JPG

So… on to post #200. Here is some GREAT news from one of my FAVs…Denyse Schmidt.

I got a chance to finally meet her at market, attending her schoolhouse lecture and I saw the new colorway and quilts from her Flea Market Fancy fabric line—she added pinks and yellows.

See the photo (below) of the quilts she had on display at her lecture...simply stunning don’t ya think!

The great news is: She will be having a new fabric collection coming out with FreeSpirit! It is called “Katie Jump Rope” and she sent me a photo of her inspiration…a vintage jump rope.

A jump rope? Yup, a jump rope! Here is just another bit of insight as to how fabric designs get their inspiration for their collections. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with!

The line will have that “vintage” feel with a modern twist… And she will be sending us a sneak peek of it!

Other things in the works for her…

From Denyse: Denyse schmidt schoolhouse books 06.JPG

“I am going to be having a solo exhibition in Denver, opening in early March. It's at a design gallery called P Design Gallery.

It is a new design gallery and store, and I'm excited to be included in their stellar roster of cutting edge designers. He carries my licensed quilts in his shop. I'll be creating about six new quilts for the exhibition.”Denyse schmidt schoolhouse quilts.JPG

Denyse promises to keep us posted on all the good things (and sneak peeks) happening at her studio…and beyond.

Had enough of Quilt Market Yet?

Well, in case you want to HEAR more about quilt market…that is if you can stand to listen to me talk about it…Simple Art's Annie Smith is the pod cast queen of quilting and has interviewed me for about three hours (in a three-part series) for your listening pleasure. Check out Quilting Stash to hear me blabber… and listen to Annie's  interviews with makers and shakers in the quilting industry …who probably do not blabber. Enjoy the show.
