Elizabeth Scott, of "Late Bloomer Quilts", Has A Book Coming Out In June...Elizabeth Gives Us A Sneak Peek And She Is Guest Writing Today

We have the pleasure of hearing from Elizabeth Scott, a quilter and designer and blogger…and now an author.  Elizabeth has a book called “The ABC’s of Words on Quilts" coming out this June with C & T Publishing and is guest writing today.elizabeth%20scott%20book%20cover.JPG

I met Elizabeth's work, before I actually met her.  I had bought a few of her patterns at "In Between Stitches" quilt shop when they were a vendor at Pacific International Quilt Show. I loved her style immediately.

Two of my favorite patterns are "Spooky's Seeds" and "Sweet Hearts"--shown in photos. I have since met Elizabeth and her side-kick Pam and I think both are a wonderful addition to our quilting and crafting community. I am looking forward to the book coming out.

Here is Elizabeth:

“I made my first quilt in 1980 and have been designing under the name Late Bloomer Quilts since mid-2003.

Along with designing my own quilts I've also had the wonderful experience of helping Alex Anderson with several projects for 3 of her books as well as projects to showcase 2 of her fabric lines for P&B Textiles. Spooky%27s%20Seed.jpg

When C&T Publishing gave me the opportunity to write a book, I didn't realize just what I was getting into. It's a tremendous amount of work!

I love putting words and phrases on my quilts and that's what my book is about--how to add wording to your projects by using appliqué and/or simple embroidery. I'm used to doing my own projects from start to finish but with 12 projects to do it was clear I'd need some help.

There was no question who I'd call--my friend Pam Vieira-McGinnis (also known as Pam Kitty Morning in the craft-blog world). We'd met thru working at the same quilt shop, In Between Stitches in Livermore, CA and became very close friends. She'd already been in on all mysweet%20hearts.jpg doubts--would C&T accept my book proposal? What if they hate all my ideas...and I know she loves quilting like I do.

So I gave her 4 table runners to machine quilt for me. I know she stressed over it but she did a great job.

Turns out I'm the one who can't be trusted with important projects--when I was trimming the "Summer" runner to prepare to bind it; I ended up slicing up the border with my rotary cutter! Only Pam and I know where the repair is located.Elizabeth%20Scott%20and%20Pam.JPG

When C&T sent me sample pages of the book I was so happy that they happened to send the page with the runners--so I could show Pam her name in print!

I know Pam's going to be about as excited as I am to finally see the book in print this June.

(Thanks to C & T Publishing for the quilt project photo and photo of soon-to-be-released book, "The ABC's Of Words on Quilts" by Elizabeth Scott --C&T Publishing, June 2007. Pattern photos and graphics thanks to Elizabeth.

P.S. Elizabeth is the blonde and Pam is the brunette.)
