Sewing and stitching while watching a great movie. Sounds like heaven.
Check out “QuiltFlix”, a great idea from Debby Luttrell of Stitchin’ Heaven.
"Says Debby, "Let's face it...quilter's love to sew and watch movies! So, we have developed this program to help you with your movie selection, to provide you with a fun escape, and to offer you a very unique combination. With this program you will receive a DVD movie and a quilt that are "coordinated".
Here is more about the program.
“QuiltFlix is one of the most unique and interesting quilting programs that has been introduced in recent times. Debby Luttrell, owner of Stitchin' Heaven in Quitman, TX is the originator of the idea and currently offers it as an exclusive in her shop. The idea came about because Debby is a fan of watching movies while she sews. "Sewing and movies just go together. There is nothing I enjoy more than spending a day in my sewing room piecing a beautiful quilt and watching a movie."
The concept behind QuiltFlix is that the quilt project will be coordinated with the movie. For example, in the current offering "Return to Me" the project selected is made from the new
"Hearts Aflutter" fabric from Moda (See photo of quilt) featuring hearts (of course) and is perfect for Valentine's Day. The movie is a romantic drama about a man who lost his wife in a tragic accident and she had made arrangements prior to her death to donate her heart.
The program in March will feature the wonderful "He Loves Me" fabric by Maywood with the beautiful daisy designs from Jackie Robinson. The movie for March will be "Driving Miss Daisy". All movies are new and are in DVD format.
QuiltFlix has two options: projects can be purchased one at a time or the participant can join the QuiltFlix Club by paying a $25 up front fee, receive a 20% discount on the projects each month, and be on an autoship status and be guaranteed the monthly project. Most projects will be lap or twin in size and cost under $100 (around $80 with membership). Three "movie passes" are allowed each year. This provides for the participant to not receive a movie if they don't care for the offering or they just want to pass on it. Information can be found on the website at www.stitchinheaven.com
Patchwork Party is also another of Debby's "great idea" programs for quilters! Spring Edition Starts Feb 14.
Debby is also the originator of the very popular Patchwork Party - program that features 12 different shops who host 12 different blocks. In the first Party last August over 1300 participants visited each shop and purchased the block. They also had the opportunity to see the blocks in 12 different quilt settings as each shop furnished a finishing kit each with a different design. The next Patchwork Party is scheduled to begin February 14 and information can be found at www.patchworkparty2007.com.
