Treat Yourself to An Artist's Date at Asilomar
The second annual retreat geared at developing your inner creativity is in the works.
“The first event last year was a huge success, not to mention lots of
fun but then who wouldn't have a great time with Alex Anderson and Gail Abeloe. This year's event will prove more of the same with the influence of Quilt Artist Rosemary Eichorn”, says retreat coordinators and quilters Diana McClun and Laura Nownes.
Quilt makers Diana and Laura are authors, seminar leaders, teachers, and have been on television programs. Their book “Quilts! Quilts! Quilts!!!,
a how-to quilt book, is considered “the Bible” among many quilters.
They are born teachers and have taught quiltmaking and written how-to books
and patterns together since 1986. They are the authors of some of the most popular quilt books in the world. They are committed to sharing their knowledge and expertise and will be your hosts at various venues this year and next.
This 4 day “unique workshop and experience in creativity” is called “The Artist’s Way for Quilters” which is designed specifically for any quilter or anyone interested in fabric arts this August 21 to 24 at Asilomar in Pacific Grove Ca.
The emphasis for this workshop is on: “creating a satisfying, imaginative and richly rewarding artful life”. Says, Diana and Laura, “This workshop experience will change the way you approach your art, your work and your life.” For more information there is a brochure on their website www.dianaandlaura.com.
Photos shown of at last year’s event with special guest Alex Anderson. Looks like…goods times –see “dancing with quilts” event photo –, good food and three night lodging is included.
This year the event will be facilitated by Earl Storm with Rosemary Eichorn and Gail Abeloe.
The cost is $895/double occupancy. Click here for a downloadable brochure.
But wait, this is not the only event they are hosting. Your can cruise with Laura and Diana in October. Or attend one of their “Empty Spools” seminars—there are three more scheduled in 2007.
And as you can see these girls do not stand still. They also have new patterns out.
Have fun.

Hey! I'm dancing in there somewhere! :-)
As a "graduate" of last year's Artist Way for Quilters I can tell you this is NOT to be missed! Life changing as well as fun. Dianna and Laura are THE BEST hostesses and teachers EVER! Earl will have you in stitches!

I look at nature and life events in new ways as a result of attending Artist's Way for Quilters. The time at Assilomar gave me new freedom to express me and not just feel I had to copy or try to create like someone else. I'm a quilter and the sewing machine is my artist tool. Thank you Laura and Dianna!
