Introducing: "La Belle Rose"! The Newest Fabric Collection From The Studio Of Holly Holderman. Read More About This Line From Lakehouse, As Holly Guest Writes Today

Whenever at Quilt Market….I have always made sure to stop by the booth of Holly Holderman of Lakehouse DryGoods.

Holly has come up with some fabric collections that have made a big impact in the quilt fabric industry.  First there was Hydrangeas & Raspberries, next DayZ Daisies...and now La Belle Rose. holly%20h%20la%20belle%20rose%20logo%20small.JPG

Threaded Pear Gets To Play With La Belle Rose

Stephanie and I actually got to get our hands on the “La Belle Rose” collection, when Holly invited us to be featured designers at spring market.

Our studio, Threaded Pear, was selected by Holly, to create some quilting patterns specifically using this new Lakehouse collection.

We got the fabric expressed mailed to us last week, and we cut, sewed and quilted 4 quilts (and our friend Jan Lutz created 4 apron patterns) in just a few days.

We are thrilled with the opportunity and will be posting photos of “our” Lakehouse design wall and quilt patterns next week as we make our debut at Quilt Market as “featured designers” for Lakehouse.  (We also have our own booth featuring 11 other quilt patterns coming out as well--some are up on our website.)

Stephanie and I, and all those who helped us sew, press, quilt and bind or those who stopped by our studio during our marathon quilting session, wholeheartedly agreed that this collection is absolutely stunning.

Holly Tells Us More...

I asked Holly to guest write and tell us about her inspirations and to introduce her collection. So here is Holly:

"For those of you who are familiar with LakeHouse fabrics, you'd probably never think that one person designs the whole line!

But that one person would be me...Holly Holderman, aka "H2"...a gal with very eclectic tastes.

A big part of what I do is travel and find inspiration...and I LOVE ROSES...rose gardens, old porcelain pins and china hand painted with roses, scraps of old curtains, bedding -- you name it...I have always gravitated to roses.

Every year in early May accomplished photographers descend on
Paris to take pictures in some of the world's most famous rose gardens, as the roses bloom for the first time of the season.  This is my favorite time to be in Paris...

Eclectic Mix

I am equally enamored of eclectic mixes of florals, checks, stripes and dots, and lots of embellishments...old buttons, ric rac, yo-yo's, vintage quilt scraps, millinery flowers and the like.

My first fashion icon back in the early 70's was Betsey Johnson.  When I was in high school, her sweet and sassy combinations of feminine fabrics and embellishments inspired me to mix and match everything I sewed together (I sewed most of my high school wardrobe).

Betsey's playful use of color and detail inspired me to become the hunter/gatherer that I am today.  I design the same way that I cook - a pinch of this and a dollop of that.simple%20lakehouse%20blog.JPG

New Website and Blog Are In The Works

I am really looking forward to introducing you to our new website in late May/early June. It has been a long time coming.  Can't wait to share that journey with you - what a trip it’s been!

I am also planning on blogging sometime soon after that about the places I've been and the things that keep my creative juices flowing.  I have much to show and tell, and look forward to it with great anticipation!

La Belle Rose Coming This Summer

In late July and early August the first printing(s) of our new La Belle Rose Collection will be in an independent quilt store near you."

We’ll have further info about where to buy La Belle Rose on our new website:  www.lakehousedrygoods.com
Best,
H2

Ed note: Shown above are Threaded Pear's quilts ("beautifully" hung from the garage door of our studio) we made exclusively out of La Belle Rose.  Right after market, these quilts will be sent off to Gregory for some professional photo shots...it really is amazing how good your quilts can look when a pro does them! They are now packed up and ready to head for the show!  I gotta pack, find some clean undies...and do only 37 things tomorrow...then we hit the road on Tuesday to head to the Big show!

I will be writing the next few posts on the road, and will hopefully show you some great stuff from Market.

ta ta for now. Gina
