First, I would like to say how enjoyable it was to read the stories about who you would nominate to be in the “QuiltersBuzz Quilters Hall of Fame”. Each comment could be a post unto itself!
Each comment confirmed to me that we as quilters, have been inspired to create and make and do good.
We find joy in making quilts and giving them away to others.
Your nominations in the Hall of Fame included: mothers, aunts, grandmothers, great grandmothers, and great great grandmothers, friends, daughters, and even a husband’s ex-wife. You nominated the Amish, Gwen, Nancy, Jo, Alex, Eleanor, Amy, Heather, Anna Maria, Denyse, Kaffe, Donna, Georgia, God and more. You were inspired by TV shows, DVDs, books, magazines, retreats, computers and the internet.
Thank you for your participation and comments. You are inspiring to me.
Now on to the good stuff. I promised to draw three winners from our comment pool…each to win a six-pack of patterns from the designs of Threaded Pear Studio.
My lovely assistant and son, Beecher, drew the winners out of his ”very grimy” end of the season baseball hat to find who gets a 6-pack of Threaded Pear
patterns.
I numbered the entries and had Beecher draw the winners--#23, 34, and 62. If you won, please check out the Threaded Pear Studio website, pick out six patterns you would like and send an email to threadedpear@gmail.com. And we will ship them out to you! Congrats.
The first winner is:Robyn! She wrote: “….The person I am nominating is Diane Hagen… She was a wonderful teacher for me. The main thing she taught me that really fired my love for quilting was that you don't have to follow a pattern, do what YOU like and that every quilt doesn't have to be a work of art. If you are enjoying the creative process then that is what matters!
The second winner is: MaryAnn who began quilting in the 1960’s on a rented sewing machine. She wrote: “Gosh a list of folks come to mind, my Mom, Dorothy Trant, taught me to sew and made nearly every garment I wore until I left home. My first quilt was a cheater panel made for my son with a rented sewing machine after we moved to Ca. in the late 60s….”
The third winner is Vickie A: She wrote: “Although I always admired my grandmothers for their quilting, they passed away before I was smart enough to ask for lessons. As I grew older I had a desire to learn. Tammy Lee gave me lessons and I so appreciate the time she spent on me. I love quilting with a passion.”
Read the rest of the entries here. Thanks for sharing your stories.
