I know of “Stitch N’ Bitch” friendship groups forming all over the country…a chance for knitters (or quilters) to get together and do their crafty thing and “yacky yack” it a bit…![]()
But how about this…my sister, Leslie, sent me this interesting article about a STITCH N' PITCH night at a baseball game…
A great idea for sure…you buy a ticket, go to the game, get a tote bag filled with stitching supplies and you could even go early and take some stitching lessons.
The National NeedleWorks Association sponsors this event. I like it.
See this article from the Associated Press about the event. And check out the National NeedleWorks Association Calendar for a Stitch N' Pitch game coming to your area.
Take me out to the Ballgame…Buy me some needles and Cracker Jacks….
FYI: According to the article there are 369 yards of yarn inside a baseball--interesting stuff.

Hey Gina! I'm SO jealous that your sister got to go to Stitch n' Pitch at my favorite ballpark. I've missed it twice, and hope it's here to stay so I can go in the future. There is a lot more than knitting going on -- I know several quilters who take hand-work projects to the game on a regular basis. The ballpark also gives special Stitch n' Pitch goodies to the ticket holders. I saw a woman in an airport with a Stitch n' Pitch bag, and I want one, darn it! Maybe next year...
Love ya!! Annie

The Stitch and Pitch night at the new Cardinals Stadium in St. Louis (August 6 game vs San Diego) was a lot of fun...shady Section 365 was filled with a nice bunch of friendly stitchers, some knitting. I was trying out the new yo-yo making gizmo...the stitchers behind me encouraged me to keep cranking out the yo-yos as our 5th inning blitz (and eventual win) started as I finished the first yo-yo. Lots of fun. Lots of goodies in the bag. I looked over in the section and spotted several ladies holding up red and white letters (couldn't read it from my angle) that I suspect said something like GO CARDS...but...each letter was a small knitted panel! It was funny.
By the way, the new Cardinals Stadium is awesome.
