While most of what you read here is quilting, on occasion I also like to offer
information on things that I think quilters can use or will like even if it is not a quilting supply.
So let me tell you about Zero Odor. I saw this on a news report and immediately thought of quilters. Zero Odor is a non-toxic, bio-degradable and non-dermal irritant spray that eliminates odor. Unlike most deodorizers, Zero Odor does not mask or cover up odor. The company claims it organically eliminates odor.
How does it work you ask? Well brush off your chemistry books. It is based on science not fragrance. Their website says,
“Zero Odor seeks out and bonds with odor molecules of just about every kind, changing them into molecules that can no longer cause odor. Immediately after spraying, Zero Odor leaves behind a "Tracer Scent" that helps you know where Zero Odor has been sprayed. A short time after Zero Odor is sprayed the Tracer Scent will disappear.”
While I have not used it yet, it sounds like it would be great to get odors such as pet smells and cigarette smoke out of fabric, quilts, bedspreads, upholstery, etc. An introductory kit is $19.95 and includes three bottles - 22 ounces, eight ounces and four ounces and can be purchased online at Zero Odor. However, you can also get a four-ounce bottle for $7.95 to give it a try. It seems like a pretty fair risk. The company offers a “no-questions asked” money back guarantee (including shipping) within 30 days of purchase.
Please comment below if you have tried this product and know if it works on and around quilts, fabric, upholstery, etc. Let’s compare results.![]()

are you being paid for this post? it sounds very infomercial-esque. is it really worth putting the integrity of this site in question for a few dollars? i love your quilting posts but this post just doesn't seem authentic to me. i would be happy to donate a few dollars via paypal if you're in need of money to keep the site going and i'm sure others would, too.

Hey Gina, I think it's great that you're passing along a product recommendation...especially since this is a product most quilters won't run into at their local quilt shop. I think there are lots of people who would be interested in this - longarmers, people with pets, and especially groups that receive donated quilts or fabric. Thanks for the info!

Like Tiffany, I was happy to see this info. I have previously purchased some odor-clearing spray that doesn't work very well. I'm interested in hearing what other people say about this one. Thanks for passing on the information.

I am not selling it--nor have been paid to write about it or anything else that I write about. Just thought it was an interesting product that quilters might be interested in. Plus, I have seen plenty of old smelly quilts that need to be "spritz" with something to take the odor out. And yes, my hubby's running shoes and my boys football cleats all stink!

Note to anonymous above: On second thought a donation to pay pal is not that bad of an idea.....

Thanks for this information Gina. Can't wait to try it myself and see what others think about it.

Gina, Thanks for mentioning this product. I was given a plastic bag of fabrics that have a musty odor that hasn't disappeared even after washing. I have tried other "odor removal" products but they have their own scent that just seems to combine with the previous odor--very frustrating!

Thanks for info. I could use it on musty smelling quilts. I hope we hear some feedback from someone that has tested it out -- someone not anonymous.

Try it! I ran across this when I was looking for the Zero Odor website; I looked at this because I like textiles, sewing, and am interested in quilting but have only tried a bit.
I've used Zero Odor for several years and reordered a couple of times. I've been very happy with it and like it better than any other product I've tried. It has a light fragrance that dissipates, which was important to me, too. In fact, the last time I bought the package that included an 66 oz refill bottle with the rest of the package,
I've used it on cat pee on hard surfaces as well as fabrics and pillows, mattresses, etc., and I'VE USED IT ON FABRICS THAT SMELL MUSTY OR HAVE OTHER SMELLS, ALSO TO FRESHEN AIR.
