New fabric designer and artist, Amy Schimler, has another line of fabric coming out and she is giving us a sneaky peek of her “Creatures and Critters” collection
which is just shipping out to quilt shops.
This line from Robert Kaufman Fabrics and it is funky charming. And the collection comes in three different colorways... Earth, Fiesta, and Tropical. You can see the entire collection on the Kaufman site.
Amy’s inspiration comes from so many different things; Children's artwork, the textures and patterns found both in nature and man-made materials (peeling paint, rusted metal), my dog's comical shadow, color, great lyrics, vintage fabrics, and ethnic textiles. Honesty inspires me, she says.
There is a great Amy interview posted on “Please Come Flying” by Josephine
Cameron…you can read more about Amy there or on this previous post on the Quilter’s Buzz.
I appreciate Amy’s fresh, graphic approach to this kid’s line.
Amy has agreed to let me play with her line as well and I will be creating a new “Afternoon Delights” pattern soon using some of her fabrics.
Read read and see more about Amy and her illustrations on her website and blog.
Great stuff! (Photos and graphics thanks to Amy and Kaufman Fabrics!)
