I don’t know about you, but no one wants to change
the blade on a rotary cutter at my work place. Most of us will just use it dull, hoping that somehow the next time we pick it up someone would have unscrewed the nut and changed out the blade. I am bad, I avoid blade changing if at all possible.
Basically, it makes me nervous changing out blades...I worry that I am going to slice off my finger putting the new super sharp blade in or put that I will put the dang thing back together wrong.
I was happy to find out that OLFA now has a new Quick-Change Rotary Cutter” and changing out the blade is super fast and easy. This new product is available in –those practical sizes of-- 45 mm and 60 mm.
And just one quick step of sliding down the lock and the blade is released and drops out. No more washer and nut thingy. Also, to make it safer, there is a split blade cover. This safety technique is great because it makes it easy to switch hands to cut. With an easy push the blade cover easily moves up or down to provide excellent safety.
As always, the great OLFA quality shines through. It is easier than ever to cut multiple layers and their anti-slip rubber grip gives comfort to create less hand fatigue. And come to find out Olfa says they are guaranteed forever—oh yeah, and it works for both right and left handers.
Definitely worth checking out. To check out this new product and others like it from OLFA check out their website at www.olfa.com.
Priced at about $30.
Anyone out there using this "quick change" cutter? Let us know what you think.

That cutter is fabulous ... we like that it's left and right handed as well so that anyone can use it. Their January newsletter {http://tinyurl.com/yuujo3}features designers in the quilting industry.
