Joanna from Fig Tree Quilts is again guest writing…’cause she has big news!
Her new fabric line with Moda, Dandelion Girl is shipping out to quilt shops in the next few
weeks, and Joanna’s studio and world is featured in an awesome spread in the current issue of American Patchwork and Quilting.
Well, hello Quilters Buzz readers!
The fun Miss Gina is letting me do a little “blah, blah”
about what’s going on over in our studios and for those of you know me even a little bit, you know that I love to gab about what’s up at Fig Tree.
I am so pleased to let you know that in the current issue of American Patchwork & Quilting is a fun story about me and my little corner of the universe. The magazine in on the newsstands now and I have been overwhelmed with emails telling me that indeed they had arrived!
(Note from Gina: It is quite exciting to see a friend have such a spread in a magazine…Congrats to you, Joanna, and Eric, your big Fig at Fig Tree.)
Anyway, it feels like this has been a long time in coming as we first started talking about it all over a year ago. As my husband would attest, there is something about knowing that a photo crew is coming to your house that does weird things to a designers psyche...
opportunity to create a level of organization & management in our offices never seen before, insisted on deep cleaning every crevice of the studio, and of course out came those now infamous [you’ll have to read the article to hear more details about that] cans of cream paint.
After all, I couldn’t have the photo crew walking through rooms with nicked walls, thick with kid’s fingerprints and scuff marks now could I? If you can’t already tell, I really USED this opportunity in every sense of the word.
We laughed that we should have thrown a giant party after the shoot, because the house may never look that well put together again. But we didn’t... All we had the energy for when it was all said and done was a good glass of wine on the couch and a toast to the future of the company.![]()
We just wanted to share with you some photos from the shoot. We are also very excited that the newest line with Moda, Dandelion Girl, is shipping to quilt shops in the next week or two. . Here are a few swatches of the line itself. We will be showing more Dandelion Girl projects
soon, so stay tuned.
Thanks & happy sewing and quilting,
Joanna
NOTE: Joanna was offering a quilting kit in the magazine and she sold out in a couple of days! There are signups to be on the wait list for the quilt kits on Fig Tree's website.![]()

love the dandelion line- I'm trying to come up with a quality reason to buy a bit of ALL of the fabrics! How do I tie that all together?
