Here is a fun quilting tool to play with. Jayme Crow's Boondoogle ruler was featured on Quilter's Buzz a while ago...now there is a "new addition" at Jayme's studio....
A bundle of joy at Bella Nonna Studio.![]()
“The Baby Boondoggle is about 4.5 inches wide and 6 inches long and is diamond shaped like its mother. Two baby Boondoggles sewn together fit nicely alongside the large Boondoggle ruler and together they create lots of exciting patterns,” Crow explains.
The Boondoggle (retailing for $16) and Baby Boondoggle Rulers ($14) make those nifty on-point designs that can intimidate even the piecing pro.
The Baby Boondoggle has produced a new generation of fun, patterns to try. The new Boondoggle Table Runner, that measures 16x40 inches, comes with the pattern, mama and baby ruler. The pattern would work with myriad fabrics. You could make a new runner for every month. Talk about a well-dressed table.
“Strip piecing makes artistic-looking quilts and the strips don't have to match up from Boondoggle to Boondoggle. Doing a simple 4-patch and cutting it out with the Boondoggle also gives a very artistic look to the quilt.
We have several quilts using the Boondoggle Ruler, some using just the Baby Boondoggle Ruler and some using the two rulers together.
“Another fun thing to do is take old quilt blocks that have been handed down, or that you've made and rediscovered and cut them up with the Boondoggle ruler - it gives them a whole new life and a whole new look,” Crow says.
The Baby Boondoggle is a great way to use the very popular 2-1/2 strips she suggests. Stitch two strips together, press and cut out with the Baby Boondoggle. Fast, fun and easy! It makes a very striking quilt if you alternate the way you cut out the boondoggle.
The Studio also offers a Baby Boondoggle Starter kit with a ruler and great patterns.
Speaking of patterns, the much-anticipated Boutique Shoulder Bag, unveiled at the Fall Quilt Market is ready to roll (See photo below). The bag is a great size, perfect for the fashionable mom or grandma. It should be a big hit!
“We have HAND-DYED Silk Petals in 10 luscious colors ready for quilters, fiber artists, scrapbookers, and anyone who wants to play with these amazing and versatile petals. They will available in March 2008. We also will have some great new patterns for using these HAND-DYED SILK petals," Crow says.![]()
