It is always nice to meet a new fresh and talented face in the quilting world. Last Spring, I hooked up with Lila Tueller, a new designer for Moda.
Lila, a mother of seven kids, (Yup, I said seven!) is a spunky talented one—she is as fun as her fabric lines.
She debuted a “light-hearted modern” fabric line at the Spring Quilt Market, “Woodland Bloom” and four new patterns featuring a peasant blouse, a purse, an apron and a quilt. The fabric line is shipping now from Moda and should be on the shelves of your local quilt shop. And her patterns are available now too.![]()
Want to see and play with the entire Woodland Bloom line? Go to Moda's website and see their FabricMatcher program. You can click on any of Lila's fabrics, pick a quilt pattern and "build your own quilt" online. It is pretty cool, I have written about the FabricMatcher program before, but now Moda has it available for you to play with--with all of their fabrics.
So what has Lila been doing since I first met her…she has another fabric line in the works that will be shown in ![]()
(Did I mention Lila is a Grandma? And her youngest son started kindergarten this year. Lila, however, does not look like your typical “quilting’ granny”, I am sure that she gets mistaken for her 18 year old daughter’s best friend.)
Here is a note from Lila:
Hi There! Quilter's Buzz readers!
I am really excited that my first line of fabric for Moda, Woodland Bloom, is on its way to stores for the Fall/Winter season! This collection debuted in May of this year at Spring Quilt Market in
I am also really excited about the upcoming Quilt Market this fall in
"Soire'e" will be available in the spring of '09, after the long winter, just in time for some of your spring/summer sewing projects! (Look for Soire'e in all of Moda's new pre-cut collections as well!)
I have been stitching up samples and promoting this next fabric line. This is a really fun sort of chaotic frenzy that I actually enjoy in a masochistic sort of way. There is no such thing as a good night’s sleep during such a time as this. My brain doesn’t know how to ‘power down’, so I keep right on sewing in my dreams, when my head finally does hit the pillow.
I hope that all of you headed to quilt market will stop by the Moda booth and check out the displays, and come introduce yourselves to me! I can’t wait to get to know you all!
Thanks for taking the time to stop and read about what I‘m doing, and I hope you will have fun creating all the wonderful things you create as a great new season moves into full swing!
Best of life to you all,
Happy Sewing
Lila Tueller

I live a pretty crazy but boring life. I'm 47, and I've been married for 28 years. I have a great husband and 7 children, ages
Six are living at home with me, and my oldest just had her first baby in Feb! I can't believe that I'm a GRANDMA! I don't get a lot of sleep, I stay up late to do my projects, and that explains why I am a little ditsy at times! (It could also be because I'm a little ditsy anyway!)
I love fabric, and I love to create all sorts of things. I also own a Paint Your Own Pottery studio called "Color Me Mine". It is a franchise, and it's a lot of fun! My newest endeavor began when my niece Chelsea (of Pink Fig Patterns and Vintage Chic Blog) convinced me to try my hand at designing fabric, and I was subsequently picked up by Moda as one of their newest designers!
I'm really excited, and I'm having a blast! The boring part of my life is that I still spend most of my time doing dishes, laundry, driving my kids around, and all of that sort of "Mom" stuff. I don't mind it, I actually enjoy it! But it's not exactly newsworthy. So that's about it! Thanks for reading!!!
