Writer/Quilter Meg Cox tells us more about the auction:
Buy Quilts Now to Benefit the Alliance for American Quilts!
The first auction week for contest quilts for the Alliance for American Quilts is about to end, so don't delay! All 67 quilts entered into the My Quilts/Our History contest, fresh from being exhibited at International Quilt Festival in Houston, will be auctioned on eBay over the next three weeks. The 23 quilts in the first group will be available until 9 pm (EST) this Thursday, Nov. 6.
(Ed note: The auction continues...See more of the auction on ebay here!)
All the quilts are 15 inches square, to celebrate the nonprofit's 15th anniversary, and each one expresses something about the maker's own quilt history. Bidding begins at $50, and if the last AAQ auction is a guide, most will sell for less than $100. That makes these gems a great choice for holiday gifts for the quilters on your shopping list. Plus, you get to help grow an outstanding organization that preserves and shares the stories of quilts and quiltmakers.
Go to eBay.com and type Alliance for American Quilts into the search box. Go to www.allianceforamericanquilts.
To whet your appetite, here is one quilt for each week of the auction:
Yvonne Porcella is a pioneering art quilter and longtime board member of the Alliance. Her quilt, "Four Sided Journey" is up for auction now.
"The Home in the Garden," by Allison Aller, won first place in the AAQ contest. It goes up for auction in Week 2, starting at 9 pm EST on Thursday, Nov. 6.
"Get a Dog" by quiltmaker Pauline Salzman, is part of Week 3, going up for auction on eBay beginning Thursday, Nov. 13, at 9 pm EST. The auction ends Nov. 20, 9 pm EST.
