Three Fires Blazing in California. Three Worries...For My Son, My Shop and My Home.

There are three major fires blazing in California.fire%20brea%20area.jpg

One out of control fire is near my son who is attending UCSB in the Santa Barbara CA.

The other is in Yorba Linda, Ca where my shop and studio are.  The neighborhood surrounding my shop has been evacuated.

The third fire is in Brea, Ca where I live with my family.  My kid's high school is on fire.Brea%20Fire.jpg

It is scary.  Many staff members and friends have been evacuated from their homes.

We are packed and ready to run if we have to.

I keep calling my shop and the answering machine still comes on, I guess it is not melted yet.

My son, keeps us updated on what is happening to him a couple hours north.

So far, my family is safe, but on alert.

For some reason, fabric does not matter much right now.

Our prayers are with those who have lost their homes and businesses already.  Send some prayers this way...

Thanks Gina

SUNDAY MORNING UPDATE:

An Update from Gina:
So far so good. My shop and home are about 8 miles apart. Nearly everyone who works for me has been evacuated from their homes. I am at my shop checking things out. Everything is OK. We passed through fire and smoke to get here--literally on both sides of the road. Some in my neighborhood are evacuating. We are ready when necessary. Lots of police and firefighters doing wonderful things. It is smokey and hard to breath, but the winds are not as bad as yesterday.
Thanks for the support.
Gina

First photo thanks to The Age news.

Second photo taken with my phone, right when the fires started.

Gina,

Oh Gina, . . . I cannot imagine all the different directions that your heart is being pulled at a time such as this. Please know that I am praying for you & your family & all those affected. xo, Bren

Gina, you're in my prayers. Scary to have a kid in danger so far from home. We were trying to leave on Northbound 5 yesterday and had to drive out 23 to go around the fire..just grateful to be safe. It was awfully scary when we got as far as San Fernando. When we got to Castiac you could see the flames beyond Magic Mountain. SCARY STUFF. I hope that you're all safe and sound, and that your home and business are spared. xop

My house is open to you and your family. We had another family here last night (family of 6 + 2 dogs + 2 cats) They were ok to go back this morning, but are now "behind the lines". My parents' place is at Lambert & Kramer which was evacuated this morning and seems to be a hot spot today.

Good luck and many prayers to you and yours!

Gina,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Stay safe - hopefully this will be over soon. Kathy Brown

Hi Gina,
Any more updates? I found that I can listen to KNX online and have been hearing all about the fires. I'm hoping that the decrease in winds will help keep you safe.
Sending positive thoughts your way.

Gina,
I have been closely watching your area as we have good friends who live on Via del Cerro off Yorba Linda Drive (or ave. not sure which). I talked to them yesterday and could hear the planes going overhead and prayed that they would be all right. As I watched coverage, I feared they might have to evacuate and that there home could be in danger. But today they called and they are all right and so is their home. So many have lost so much and even when you escape with your life, the enormous sense of loss in knowing that pictures, family treasures, maybe a pet, or quilts were lost, it still really hurts. I am involved in a group here called Sew and Share. We made quilts and such for Iowa flood victims and if there is any way we can help please let me know. Our Sew and Share blog is at http://sewandshare at blogspot.com/

Gina,
My thoughts & prayers are with you & your family. Be Safe !
